11) fault :-  Lube oil consumpssion too high.

Probable cause and remedial action.

A) Incorrect Lube oil brand.
Use lube oil of propper brand and grade as recommended by OEM.
B) Oil  filter dirty.
Check oil filters and If necessary:-
a) Change oil filter.
b) Change oil filter elements
c) Clean the inlet filter.
C) Poor compression.
Engine needs repairs in workshop.

10) fault :-  Fuel consumption too high.

Probable cause and remedial action

A) Incorrect Lube oil brand.
Use lube oil of propper brand and grade as recommended by OEM.
B) Incorrect setting of injectior.
Replace or overhaul defective injector.
C) Incorrect engine timing.
Get the engine timing reset.
D) Clogged air filter.
Clean air filter.
E) Poor compression.
Engine needs repairs in workshop.

9) fault:- Engine speed is irregular.

Probable cause and remedial action
A) Air in the fuel system.
Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerge of bubbles tighten the bleed plug.
b) The loosen banjo on injector pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerged free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
G)  Governor is stuck.
Call the service engineer. Governor needs repair.

8) fault :- Air film present in crank case vantilation.

Probable cause and remedial action

A) Incorrect compression.
Engine needs repair in workshop.
B) Lube oil brands.

7) fault :- Oil pressure low.

Probable cause and remedial action

A) Dirty lube oil filter.
Replace the lube oil filter.
B) Oil control valve not working.
Call the service  engineer for repair of controll valve.
C) Dirty oil cooler.
Call the service engineer for cleaning of oil cooler.

6) fault :- Output of engine too low.

Probable cause and remedial action
A) Dirty fuel filter and fuel line.
Check fuel filters and If necessary:-
a) Change fuel filter.
b) Change fuel filter element.
c) Clean the inlet filter.
B) Air in the fuel system.
Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) loosen the bleed plug on the fuel on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerge of bubbles tighten the bleed plug.
b) The loosen banjo on injector pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerged free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
C) Deffective injector.
Remove the defective injectors and get it overhauled/calibrated or replace with new one.
D) Valve clearance is not proper.
To check Valve clearance, and adjust the clearance follow these steps:-
a) Unscrew bolts and remove cylinder cover.
b) Crank engine until the inlet valve closed then turn approx (1/2) half turn further.
c) The feeler gauge should pass between the valve cone end and the rocker lever with suction.
d) If the valve clearance need resetting loosen lock nut and readjust by means of the set screw.
e) Tighten lock nut and recheck valve clearances.
f) Renew gasket, sealing ring and fit cylinder head cover.
E) Air filter chocked.
Clean air filter element and change oil.
F) Improper compression.
Engine needs repairs in workshop.
G)  Governor is stuck.
Call the service engineer. Governor needs repair.

5) fault :- Engine Knocking.

Probable cause and remedial action
A) Incorrect injector sitting.
Remove the faulty injector and get it reset or replace it with new one.
B) Mechanical damage to piston or cylinder.
Call the service engineer.
C) valve clearance is not proper.
To check Valve clearance, and adjust the clearance follow these steps:-
a) Un-screw bolts and remove cylinder cover.
b) Crank engine until the inlet valve closed then turn approx (1/2) half turn further.
c) The feeler gauge should pass between the valve cone end and the rocker lever with suction.
d) If the valve clearance need resetting loosen lock nut and re-adjust by means of the set screw.
e) Tighten lock nut and recheck valve clearances.
f) Renew gasket, sealing ring and fit cylinder head cover.
D)  Fuel injection timing not proper.
Correct the timing or call the service engineer.

4) Fault :- Engine Stops.

Probable cause and remedial action.

A) No fuel in the Tank.
Filled fuel in the Tank.  Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerges of bubbles. Tighten the bleed plug.
b) Then loosen banjo plug on injection pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerges free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
B) Air in the fuel system.

a) Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerges of bubbles. Tighten the bleed plug.
b) Then loosen banjo plug on injection pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerges free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
C) valve clearance is not proper.
To check Valve clearance, follow these steps:-
a) Un-screw bolts and remove cylinder cover.
b) Crank engine until the inlet valve closed. Then turn approx (1/2) half turn further.
c) The feeler gauge should pass between the valve cone end and the rocker lever with suction.
d) If the valve clearance need resetting,  Loosen the lock nut and readjust by means of the set screw.
e) Tighten lock nut and recheck valve clearances.
f) Renew gasket, sealing ring and fit cylinder head cover.
D) governor is stucks.
Call in the service engineer. Governor needs repairs.
E) Overheating of engine.
Take remedial action as in serial number five below.
F) Shut down circuit fails.
Recheck and repair the circuits.

3)  Faults:- Engine exessive smoking.
Probable causes and Remidial action.
A) Engine oil level too high.
Check oil level.
   For this purpose, follow these steps:-
a)  Draw dipstick and clean with lint free cloth.
b)  Return dipstick, wait a little untill the oil has watted the dipstick.
c) Then remove the dipstick again and check oil level.
B) Air in fuel system.
 Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerges of bubbles. Tighten the bleed plug.
b) Then loosen banjo plug on injection pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerges free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
C) Valve clearance is not proper.
To check Valve clearance, follow these steps:-
a) Un-screw bolts and remove cylinder cover.
b) Crank engine until the inlet valve closed. Then turn approx (1/2) half turn further.

Remove defective injector and get it overhauled/calibrated or alternatively replace it with new one.
E) Clossed air cleaner.
Clean air cleaner element and change oil.
F)  Exessive carbon on cylinder head and piston.
De-carbonize the engine.
G) Engine overloaded.
Check and reduce the load.

Probable causes and Remidial actions.
A) Dirty fuel filter.
Check fuel filters and If necessary:-
a) Change fuel filter.
b) Change fuel filter elements.
c) Clean the inlet filter.
B) No /Less fuel in tank.
Filled fuel in the Tank.  Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerges of bubbles. Tighten the bleed plug.
b) Then loosen banjo plug on injection pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerges free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.

1) Faults:- Engine running too hot.
Probable causes and Remidial actions.
A) Defective thermostat.
By short circuiting and radiator opening. Check weather the thermostat opens fully. If not, then install new one.
B) Deffective water pump.
Check and repair water pump.
C) V-belt for water pump needs adjustment.
Check the V-belt tension. To adjust, release the guide-pully and regulate tension in the belt. Then tighten the guide pully. If required, replace the V-belt.
D) Oil cooler not working properly.
Repair or replace the oil cooler.
E) Valve clearance is not proper.
Adjust the valve clearance as explained in engine mannual.
F) Air filter is chocked.
Clean the air filter.
G) RPM of coolant fan is too low.
Adjust the RPM of the motor to 1600. Check hydraulic system and change pump and motor if required.
H) Water radiator chocked.
Get the radiator cleaned.
I) Radiator cap missing or worn out.
Fit new cap.
J)  Water hoses too old.
Replace the water hoses.
