Trouble in engine and it's remedial action fault 1

Trouble in engine which damaged parts.

You are on n4net and this is indian railway track machine trouble shooting with you.

This is a series of trouble shooting technique  for the track machine working in Indian Railway.  When you study with this you able to rectify a fault of machine. If this is helpful for you than share with others. It may helps them. Thanks for sharing.

Now first we start with engine model number TBD 232V12

1) Fault :- Engine doesn't start.

Probable cause and remedial actions

A) Emergency stop switch is pressed.
Emergency stop switch should be in released position.
B) No fuel in the Tank.
Filled fuel in the Tank.  Bleed air from fuel system in the following steps:-
a) Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter and operate the priming pump until the fuel emerges of bubbles. Tighten the bleed plug.
b) Then loosen banjo plug on injection pump and operate priming pump until fuel emerges free of bubbles. Tighten the banjo plug.
C)  Shut down mechanism stuck.
Check the electrical supply at coil if it is ok,  then lubricate the piston of shut down coil mechanism with lube oil and operate it manually. If  still not working, then coil may be defective. Replace it with new one.
D) Air in fuel system.
E) Governor is a stuck.
Call in the service engineer. Governor needs repairs.
F) Misconnection of starting switch.
Check starting switch and if any misconnection is noticed, Rectify it.
G) Valve clearance is not proper.
To check Valve clearance, follow these steps:-
a) Un-screw bolts and remove cylinder cover.
b) Crank engine until the inlet valve closed. Then turn approx (1/2) half turn further.
c) The feeler gauge should pass between the valve cone end and the rocker lever with suction
d) If the valve clearance need resetting,  Loosen the lock nut and readjust by means of the set screw.
e) Tighten lock nut and recheck valve clearances.
f) Renew gasket, sealing ring and fit cylinder head cover.
H) Weak batteries.
Check electrolyte level in the batteries. Terminals should be clean and the charging system should be working. Over aged battery should be replaced.
I) Injector not properly functioning.
Remove defective injector and get it overhauled/calibrated or alternatively replace it with new one.
J) Too much fuel in engine.
Clean fuel return pipe.
K) Valve not sitting properly.
a) Check the valve spring and replaced the broken spring if any
b) Lap the valves
c) Left the valve seat, if required.
